The Castelo de Bode lake in the Ribatejo is the largest internal lake in Portugal which originated from the dam that was build in the Rio Zezere. The lake is surrounded by forests of Pine and Eucalytus and streches from Abrantes in the south until Oleiras in the north wit a total lenght of more than 60 kilometers.

It is ideal place for recreation as you can enjoy fishing, sailing, swimming, canoeing, waterskying, cycling and walking.

Aldeia do Almegue

In the northern part, in the municipality of Serta, there is the old village Almegue directly located at the shores of the Castelo de Bode lake. They called the place "Aldeia do Almegue" and developed a holiday village with wood houses build on pillars to protect the landscape.

Very important, it cools off in the night under influence of the Atlantic Ocean. In the winter the average temperature during the day varies between 15° and 18°. A very good climate to stay in the winter.

The Project

houses-lakeviewOrginally the village would include 350 chalets and although it was approved by all responsible planning authorities, the central government did no want to ratify the original urbanization plan and only part of it was finally accepted in the new land use plan for the lake. It allows the construction of about 100 chalets or other houses.

During the approval process of the original project a number of houses were already build as a pre-fase for the total project.

The smaller project that has been left does not fit in the business plan of the Transes organization, which aim was to develop a number of holiday villages in Portugal for commercial exploitation. Therefore the organization decided to sell the remaining project.

The Chalets

Next to the project there are also some chalets for sale on exclusive locations.

The main property with a front length of 140 meter comprises a 4-bedroom Chalet-Villa, a separate 2-bedroom Chalet (presently used as guesthouse) and an extra construction plot. Total area is about 10,000 m2 with a waterfront of about 100 meter. Own access to the lake and a large and beautiful laid-out garden in a natural sloping area.
